Benevolent Business
As usual, I’m working on a startup company that I think will change the world. Not yet ready to release/announce it here, but I just saw an inspiring seminar by Paul Graham that mirrors my sentiments on benevolent startups and wanted to share it with you.
The video below is from Startup School, a collection of free seminars given by some remarkable speakers.
Thoughts on Life & Death (Cont.)
If you haven’t seen Randy Pausch’s ‘Last Lecture’ where he shares his thoughts on life & death, you’re missing out. I couldn’t agree more with his approach to making the most of life despite a rapidly impending death.
I’ve embedded Randy’s full lecture below (1h 15m)
Some of you may prefer this shortened (12 min) version he provided on Oprah.
& for some different thoughts with the same aim, you might enjoy this podcast where I share some of my personal strategies for keeping it positive despite impending death. Enjoy!
Tally Hall - Good Day - Breathtaking!
I don’t normally post music videos (in fact this is the first one ever), but being the most amazing video editing I’ve ever seen I wanted to share it with you. Watch it full screen if you want to catch the hidden stuff.
Fun Fact: Played soccer with Joe (red tie) in elementary school. His hair hasn’t changed since.
How Creativity is Being Strangled by the Law
An invigorating talk by Larry Lessig on the need for more open copyright laws that will let creativity flourish. Whether or not you agree, to understand Lessig’s position is vital in the debate.
Prisoner’s Dilemma Explained - Game Theory
Why would someone admit to murder despite a lack of hard evidence? Game theory, of course.
How to Negotiate a Pay Raise with Game Theory
This vidcast is a true story of negotiating a pay raise from $12/hr to $300/hr using basic Game Theory. I keep the explanation nice and simple for an intro Game Theory lesson. If you finds this useful let me know and I’ll continue the series.
Back in Business!
Sorry for the delay between postings. I moved to Ann Arbor, started work at Google, went a while without internet, etc. I made a quick video of the new apartment a few days ago & am posting it here for those interested. I realize exposing what a cornball I am may disqualify myself from any position of major responsibility in the future, but I am fine with that. I’m an eccentric individual & I’ve learned enough to be confident & happy in my entrepreneurial\business endeavors regardless of being a total nerd. w/o further ado, the new apartment!
