All other things remaining equal it'd be easier to stay positive while dying, but if the nature of the death process is painful and disorienting it'd certainly be a struggle. Still, a serene death seems more attainable if one is resolved ahead of time. It's what I'll be going for. :) Good point, Joyce. Kidney failure, cancer, all these conditions are painful and the treatment has a lot of side effects. I watched a self-made documentary of a man dying from AIDs and the deterioration was astounding; understandably it was hard for him to remain chipper even though he had a lot of support from friends and family. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you have a medical condition that's going to get you in the next year or so there is more than the fear of death involved.
